We need to help rebuild shattered young lives though supporting the initiatives of Save the Children.
Save the Children are a nonpolitical group working with and supporting children who have fled Syria alone and unaccompanied — ensuring they are safe and provided with the guidance and care of trained social workers.
They provide and ensure access to safe and formal education in both Lebanon and Jordan. Save the Children are already working in refugee camps and communities on the borders of Syria, helping children fleeing the devastation. These children are arriving frightened and traumatised. Save The Children’s teams are there to keep these children safe, provide basics like food and blankets, and most importantly to help these children deal with their traumatic experiences. But funds are running low, and these children urgently need our support.
Why “It’s Bigger Than”? Because we want to highlight that the plight of others is, in most cases, bigger than the problems we deal with on a day-to-day basis. The number of people who have been displaced by this conflict exceeds 400,000 which is larger than most of the communities we regularly encounter.
Money raised through events and donations aims to achieve the following:
• It’s Bigger Than: 18,- EUR : Provides blankets to protect the children from the cold.
• It’s Bigger Than: 50,- EUR : Provides good quality and nutritious food for two children for one month.
• It’s Bigger Than: 185,- EUR : Provides specialist emotional support to a child who’s been deeply traumatised by the horrors he or she has experienced or witnessed.
